LOEV

Loev is een humoristisch verhaal dat te maken heeft met liefde en haat. In de voorstelling spreken ze heel weinig, maar acteren ze wel heel veel. Er waren acht mensen waarvan er vier muzikanten waren en vier dansers. De muzikanten hadden allemaal verschillende saxofoons met elk een eigen toon. Er was ook achtergrondmuziek, vooral beats of percussie.

In deze dansvoorstelling zit hiphop, breakdance en moderne dans. De dansers deden solo´s en groepsdans. Ze hadden ook twee groepen van vier, waarin ze dezelfde bewegingen maakten, maar elke groep anders. Ze deden heel opvallende ´moves´, maar hun gezichtsuitdrukking was ook heel overdreven. Dat maakte het ook heel grappig.

De muziek paste heel erg bij de dans en de dans paste heel erg bij de muziek. Zonder de dans zou het minder opvallend zijn en zonder de muziek zou het minder opvallend zijn. De dans en muziek werkten heel goed samen, ook een soort liefde. 🙂

Er werden woorden geprojecteerd op een doek op de achtergrond. Die gingen allemaal over samenleven (ja, ik, zij, hen, samen en ook soms woorden in andere talen). Toen er bijvoorbeeld “ik” stond, deden de dansers solo’s. Ik vond de solo´s het coolste. Ook waren er gevechtsscènes waarin ze aan het duwen en trekken waren. Er was zelfs nep rook overal vanwege de chaos. Gelukkig was er een danser die alles stil kon zetten. Dat vond ik heel grappig want als hij ´stop´ riep dan bevroor het gevecht en kon hij de dansers optillen als een standbeeld, de handen naar beneden doen en de boze expressie omkeren naar een blij gezicht. Als je houdt van lachen dan komt het wel goed met deze voorstelling.

Voor het doek stond een podium. Soms verdwenen de dansers tussen het podium en het doek. Daar was een gat, maar dat viel niet op want het podium en het doek waren dezelfde kleur. Het was een goed bedacht systeem, het bleef je verrassen.

We went to Maaspodium in Rotterdam again on Friday night 21 March. There we saw the performance Loev.

Loev is a humorous story dealing with love and hate. In the performance, they speak very little but act a lot. There were eight people of whom four were musicians and four were dancers. The musicians all had different saxophones, each with a different tone. There was also background music, mostly beats or percussion.

This dance performance included hip-hop, breakdance and modern dance. The dancers did solos and group dance. They also had two groups of four, doing the same moves, but each group different. They did very striking moves, but their facial expressions were also very exaggerated. That also made it very funny.

The music was very much in keeping with the dance and the dance was very much in keeping with the music. Without the dance it would be less striking and without the music it would be less striking. The dance and music worked very well together, also a kind of love. 🙂

Words were projected on a canvas in the background. These were all about living together (yes, I, they, them, together and also sometimes words in other languages). For example, when it said ‘Ik’, which means I, the dancers did solos. I thought the solos were the coolest. There were also fight scenes where they were pushing and pulling. There was even fake smoke everywhere because of the chaos. Fortunately, there was a dancer who could stop everything. I found that very funny because when he called ´stop´ the fight froze and he could lift the dancers up like a statue, put the hands down and reverse the angry expression to a happy face. If you like to laugh, this performance will fit you.

In front of the curtain was a stage. Sometimes the dancers disappeared between the stage and the curtain. There was a gap there, but it was not noticeable because the stage and the curtain were the same colour. It was a well-conceived system, it kept surprising you.
