Kracht PATS

Op 20 september heb ik in Theater de Krakeling Kracht Pats gekeken. De voorstelling was gemaakt door Manco Bewegingstheater en House of Nouws, hetzelfde gezelschap dat ik met de kinderjury heb gekozen als Podiumkids Publieksprijs winnaar van 2025.

De voorstelling begon met drie heel verdachte acteurs die rondkropen en nu en dan schreeuwde er één: “Plat!” En toen leek het alsof er een hoop auto’s langs zoefde. Er waren veel zwaailichten en blèrende sirenes waar de acteurs van schrokken. De acteurs vonden uiteindelijk een portaal die hen naar een wereld vol superkrachten bracht. De scène vind ik lijken op een plek waar je niet mag zijn. Ik denk dit omdat ik overal geel en zwarte politie lint zag. Het zag er uit alsof het nacht was. Misschien kwamen zij daardoor niet in de problemen.

De drie deden heel eigenwijs en wilden aan iedereen laten zien hoe goed hun superkrachten waren. Ze werkten nooit samen en gebruikten de kracht tegen elkaar, alsof ze elkaars tegenstander waren. Eentje had een supersterke kracht waarmee zij hele zware dingen kon optillen en explosieven kon maken en laten ontploffen. De ander kon alles aan elkaar vastlijmen en kon telekinese gebruiken. Het duurde een tijdje voordat de derde haar superkracht kreeg: zij kreeg de kracht om de tijd stil te zetten en pauzeren. Haar kostuum had heel veel gekleurde slierten.

De spelers kregen later een extra stuk kleding, wat hen cooler eruit liet zien. Dat kregen ze, denk ik, omdat ze heel goed werden met hun krachten. De sterke speler kreeg een hanenkam met rood, geel en oranje. De plakkende speler kreeg een soort ketting die rond de schouders en laarzen hing met veel lange, blonde haren. En degene die de tijd stil kon zetten had glimmende schouderstukken.

De muziek was helaas niet live, maar het geluid was een soort muziek als bij een actiefilm zoals Mission Impossible. Het paste goed bij de scènes. Er waren ook lichtjes en geluidjes als de acteurs door het portaal stapten. Het licht werd oranje, zoals het decor. Dat bestond uit oranje bergen en rotsen.

In de voorstelling worden er heel veel geluidseffecten gemaakt door de acteurs. Er is ook bijna geen gepraat, want het is bewegingstheater. Deze voorstelling zou ik sneller aanraden aan jongere kinderen dan aan de rest. 6+ vind ik wel kloppen, maar ik ben 11 en ik denk dat jongere kinderen dan ik het wel ietsje leuker vinden. Die vonden het heel grappig.

On the 20th of September, I watched Kracht Pats at Theater de Krakeling. The performance was created by Manco Bewegingstheater and House of Nouws, the same company that I and the children’s judges chose as the winner of the Podiumkids Audience Award for 2025.

The performance began with three very suspicious actors crawling around, and every now and then one of them would shout: “Duck!” And then it seemed as if a lot of cars were whizzing by. There were lots of flashing lights and blaring sirens, which frightened the actors. The actors eventually found a portal that took them to a world full of superpowers. I think the scene resembles a place where you’re not allowed to be. I think this because I saw yellow and black police tape everywhere. It looked like it was night-time. Maybe that’s why they didn’t get into trouble.

The three were very selfish and wanted to show everyone how good their superpowers were. They never worked together and used their powers against each other, as if they were opponents. One had super strength, which enabled her to lift very heavy things and make and explode explosives. The other could glue anything together and use telekinesis. It took a while before the third one got her superpower: she got the power to slow down, fasten and pause time. Her costume had lots of coloured strings.

The players later received an extra piece of clothing, which made them look cooler. I think they got that because they mastered their powers. The strong player got a mohawk with red, yellow and orange. The sticky player got a kind of necklace that hung around the shoulders and boots with lots of long, blonde hair. And the one who could stop time had shiny shoulder pieces.

Unfortunately, the music was not live, but the sound was similar to that of an action film such as Mission Impossible. It suited the scenes well. There were also lights and sounds when the actors stepped through the portal. The light turned orange, like the set, which consisted of orange mountains and rocks.

In the performance, the actors create a lot of sound effects. There is also almost no talking, because it is movement theatre. I would recommend this performance to younger children rather than the rest. I think 6+ is about right, but I am 11 and I think younger children would enjoy it a little more than I did. They thought it was very funny. Even if you don’t speak Dutch you can easily understand what is happening and there is barely any speech too.
